His command of all the skills of warfare, including the oft overlooked logistics, is well explored. The march to the Danube, prior to the Battle of Blenheim, was accomplished in such a way that his army was fit and able to fight is fitting testament to Marlborough's genius. John Churchill, the first Duke of Marlborough, was probably the greatest soldier that Britain has produced. Field Marshal Montgomery described him as a miltiary genius and the Duke of Wellington could conceive of nothing finer than Marlborough at the head of an English army.
