The Internet as we know it is great for collaboration and communication, but is deeply flawed when it comes to commerce and privacy. The new blockchain technology facilitates peer-to-peer transactions without any intermediary such as a bank or governing body. Keeping the user's information anonymous, the blockchain validates and keeps a permanent public record of all transactions. That means that your personal information is private and secure, while all activity is transparent and incorruptible--reconciled by mass collaboration and stored in code on a digital ledger. With its advent, we will not need to trust each other in the traditional sense, because trust is built into the system itself.… (mere)

A dull dystopian fantasy about applications of blockchain technology that might change the world, without actually telling you how it works. Lots of words without really saying much, no technical details, the authors seem to think cryptography is some sort of magic. ( )

This book is filled with odd sentences, e.g.
- "Pinocchio can't go long-nose on the ledger",
- "'Fix me', said the leaky pipe. The IoT should inspire a hundred new children's books. ( )

The blockchain is revolutionary. This book however is nothing but pointless speculation about how awesome the future will be. Let's hope so. This book could help by maybe explaining the technology or telling the history of various projects, describing different systems available now. Instead it's just constant bombastic predictions and general exuberant excitement. ( )

Ungrounded utopian technobabble. No technical explanation of Blockchain. Mostly about Bitcoin; a bunch of cybercurrency scenarios without any serious analysis or scepticism. I just skimmed it because I rapidly realised you could replace "Blockchain" with "magic box" and have exactly the same book. ( )
