This is the story of the Nez Perce being driven from their homeland told by a warrior. His perspective is different than the usual history books and is interesting to hear.

Yellow Wolf the warrior chief of the Nez Perce war against the US Calvery. The story was collected by Whorter directly from Yellow Wolf over several years. History at it's best. ( )

A cogent timeline synthesis of nearly thirty years of interviews with one of the major surviving Native American fighters of the Nez Perce War. Supporting and dissenting views are offered where applicable. Most interesting to me were the accounts of McWhorter's visits to the battlefields of the Nez Perce War in the company of Yellow Wolf and a handful of other surviving warriors. McWhorter does a sensitive subject great justice. I recommend this book. ( )
