I received [b: Furious: Faith McMann Series #1] by [a: T.R. Ragan|4918224|T.R. Ragan|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] from NetGalley. This was by approval of Thomas & Mercer Publishers.

There is a problem in our world. The cost of human flesh has never been more affordable to the stinking rich.

Profits are so lucrative that the virus trickles into the high and low offices of governments. Worse yet, law enforcement agencies must fight the infection from within.

The disease of human trafficking is rampant. The marketing of children is a big business of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations.

Who do you call for help when the sickness is at pandemic levels?

Survivors, the ragtag scarred people who are on the fringe.

Call a biker.

Email a mother whose children have are ripped from her life.

If she comes from a tight knit family of good people, you have found an unlikely savior.

Faith McMann, left for dead in her own living room loses everything.

What does this elementary school teacher do?

You must read [b: Furious|15728219|Furious|Jill Wolfson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1344023469s/15728219.jpg|21406383] to find out.

Okay I'm reviewing both Furious and Outrage together because I just don't have enough proper words to adequately review them both separately. No spoilers. These are intense books. Human trafficking, sex slavery, violence - these books don't shy away from the hard topics. They are not overly explicit but they do adequately relate these issues. Faith is an extremely strong woman. She is hardened by the loss of her children but she uses the anger she feels to fuel not only her determination to get her kids back, but to fight all injustices against children. The more she discovers about the sex and human trafficking industries, the more she commits herself to exposing these worlds to society at large.

I really like Faith's family. Her parents and siblings are extremely supportive of Faith and her campaign to find her children. They are all clearly very close and it's nice to see them working together in what are obviously difficult circumstances. Beast and Rage fit into the group well and bring their own unique brand of justice. The use of multiple POV's gives a deeper insight into the industries and the emotions and feelings everyone is facing.

The only thing I wish I had known before I started reading was that Wrath isn't out. I kept seeing it on Amazon and didn't realise it was up for preorder, not sale and I'm kind of dying waiting. Yeah #firstworldproblems but man - I really need to know how it ends, cliffhangers suck. At least I didn't start this series earlier - like when Furious first came out, or Outrage - I only have ten days, so I guess I'm better off than most. ( )

Unlike the previous reviewers I see here, I paid for this book.

It was actually not too bad - the fact that the only reviews were paid ones made me fear that it was a self-published escapade with purchased 5* reviews.

It is not a 5* story - the pacing is a bit odd for that, and, realistically, there is no way she would have "succeeded" in reality. But it is fiction... so... some leeway granted.

I picked it up for a change of pace in my reading and it worked for that - overall, it was a decent story, decently written, and interesting enough that I will read more in the series. ( )

Furious by T.R. Ragan is a very well written book that is nonetheless very difficult to read. I read it some time ago and it appears I forgot to post a review so this will be brief from memory.

The topic of human trafficking, particularly sex trafficking, can be a very emotional subject. In portraying this in every horrible detail Ragan makes it so unsettling that it likely makes some readers look for more information and/or a way to help. I started with a MOOC on the topic myself.

With the warning that the details are graphic and disturbing, I would recommend this to anyone who is willing to read detailed human depravity written in a very suspenseful manner. The book will keep you reading. As a thriller it works very well but as the first part of a series this does have a cliffhanger.

I received this from the publisher through Netgalley. ( )

This mystery novel of human trafficking is sometimes very hard to read. These things shouldn't happen to anyone, much less a child, and the book does get graphic in spots. There is sexual and physical violence against children.. Still, human trafficking and slavery are still very big problems around the world, and the US has a huge problem, so it doesn't help anyone to pretend it doesn't exist..

This book was entertaining even though the subject matter was dark. I liked some of the offbeat characters, and I liked their loyalty. When I started reading it, I didn't realize this was the first of a trilogy, but it was obvious by the end that it needs a sequel.

The action starts quickly and the plot, for the most part, moves along at a good pace. There are some places where I thought – we already know that – let's move on. Nevertheless, this story both entertained, sometimes painfully, and informed.

I read the Kindle edition through my Kindle Unlimited membership. ( )
