An ideal book to dabble through, but I read it from sart to finish and learned so much. From the earliest writings- Greek tragedy, Hindu myths, Norse sagas up to the modern day, this is a huge (but eminently readable) work, introducing the reader to new authors, giving a summary and interpretation of some of those books you've only heard of, and allowing you to consider the literary stance on those you're familiar with. It's a global take on the subject, discussing great works from all over the globe. And being by Dorling Kindersley, it features their iconic layout and graphics. Having only borrowed it from library, I'm off to make copious lists of Books I Must Read before returning it! A literature degree, all in one book! Perfect for bookworms without an English degree, or for anyone seeking their next story to read, classic or otherwise. The text includes multi-page spreads on classic works, and shorter blurbs about less famous stories. Works span the period from 2,100 BCE to 2013 AD and multiple countries, including non-Anglo. The glossary is also very useful. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
