It is up to the Lightkeepers to wait for the Dark Bearer's return.... Detective Micki Dare is a seasoned, no-nonsense cop. She doesn't need a partner, especially one like Detective Zach Harris. But the decision has been made and there's nothing she can do about it. Zach is from an experimental FBI training program and he brings a different set of skills to the table. Sometimes, I just don't understand why a book doesn't work for me. I mean I loved the next book in this series and I like the characters. But, The Final Seven is just one of those books that fail to grab my interest. For one thing, did it take me several days to finish the book and it's not a thick book with small font. I just felt that my heart was not in it. One theory I have is that I knew what would happen since I read the next book in the series. But, I usually don't have any problems with reading books in different order. It could be because it was the first book in the series and it was an introduction to the characters and sometimes the first book is not as good as the next book in the series when you get right to the action.

As you can see do I not have any good explanations, hell it could be that it was the wrong month to read the book. But, I will say this. It's not a badly written book. I like Erica Spindler's writing style, and I've read other books by her that I love. This is just one of those books that didn't enthrall me. But, I still look forward to reading book three in this series because I really liked book two.

It was, however, nice to read about how Micki and Zack got to work together and how they met Angel. And, also getting to know Eli from the start was nice since I like him. But, the story in the next book is definitely better! ( )

This isn't the usual stuff from this author - yes there's a police department featuring Mick and her new, very handsome partner Zach, who has some unusual talents. They are tasked to find some missing girls in New Orleans but this time there is no run of the mill villain but a supernatural one to contend with. I liked the mix of the hard, seen it all before Mick and her softer sidekick, the normal police work combined with darker forces and secrets. It was pacey and gripping - a hit with me! Looking forward to the next book in this series. ( )

Detective Micki Dare has been assigned a new partner. Zach Harris is special and has certain gifts. He is part of the sixers program and has been assigned to partner Micki. Young girls have gone missing on their birthdays and Micki and Zach have to find them and stop others being taken.

This book is not what I'm used to when I pick up an Erica Spindler novel. Normally the book would be a romantic suspense with a likeable heroine and a tasty hero with a crime to solve. This outing has the heroine and hero but has a supernatural theme through the story.

I like supernatural books but I don't think that its Ms Spindler forte. The story was ok and its certainly setting the scene for a series. I personally just didn't gel with the book. Nothing really in this book grabbed me and has made me want to read the next installment.

I would have enjoyed this book more if the story didn't swing towards the supernatural. At first Micki snd Zach were running around like Mulder and Scully then I felt I was waiting for Sam and Dean Winchester to appear.

This wasn't a strong book from ES and I have loved many of her previous novels. I wont stop reading her books but perhaps won't be in a rush to enter her twilight zone. ( )

I have some mixed feelings about this book. There were a lot of things that I did like but there were times that the story dragged for me. I just never really got sucked into the story. It wasn't a bad book in any way but it was a book that I found really easy to set aside. I thought it was okay and think that future books in the series may be a bit more enjoyable for me.

This book really laid the groundwork for a new series. A series with a bit of paranormal to be more precise. As is often the case, there was a lot of framework for the series to be put into place. The basic premise was built around a new group of crime fighters from the FBI called the "Sixers". This program is comprised of individuals with a sixth sense or some kind of special ability. The idea is to pair these agents with regular police detectives to solve crimes.

Micki is a no non-sense kind of cop. She is dedicated to her job and takes it very seriously. When she is chosen to be paired with the new officer from the secret "Sixers" program, she thinks it is a joke. When she meets her new partner, Zach, she is less than impressed but does her best to follow orders. Unfortunately, Zach doesn't always do things according to protocol and tends to follow his gut. He has some pretty useful gifts which he doesn't hesitate to use.

There was a lot of excitement in the book but nothing that really blew me away. There are quite a few mysteries to solve in this story with missing girls, a murder, and some unknown entities. The characters were interesting but I never felt any connection with any of them. I think that there may have been too much going on in this book in some ways. I think that if the focus could have been narrowed down a bit the characters could have been a little more fully developed and I would have been more engaged in the story.

I would recommend this book. I am looking forward to future installments in this series. I think that the premise is really interesting and as the series progresses the characters should become a little easier to relate to.

I love the kind of supernatural thriller that makes you believe it could happen, and Erica Spindler delivers that here in a spectacular way.

First, this book has Spindler's trademark twists and turns. The action kept me involved and on edge from beginning to end.

The characters propel the story, so that I cared what happened to all of them. Some are normal humans, others are gifted, and all are complex people.

Then we have the good versus evil aspect, which might sound trite and overdone but definitely is not. We do live in a world of light and dark, good and evil, and that reality makes this story all the more compelling. Spindler uses this platform to launch a world of powerful possibilities.

Yes, this book contains supernatural elements, so if you live in a black and white world, this book probably isn't for you. But if you're willing to stretch the limits of what you can see and ask, "What if?", then this book is guaranteed to keep you turning pages. I can't wait for book #2 in this series!
