This informational book about coral reefs is perfect for students that love graphic novels. A fish is the guide that takes readers through the details of life in a coral reef. The book reads like a graphic novel, but has the information of a nonfiction science book. Readers can gain great information while being entertained by the cartoons characters.

Fabulous! I enjoyed this even better than Human Body Theater most likely because, while it was chock-full of facts, it didn't feel like quite the information overload. And the puns! O the puns! I can't wait for her next endeavor. ( )

I enjoy this book because like "El Deafo," it is an easy read and presents science information accurately and in a fun way. I would use this to support certain topics we might be talking about in class to help students understand coral reefs. Graphic novels and comics get students to engage in learning and reading. Putting a science text in this format makes the information easy to read and grasp.

I enjoyed this book because it uses scientific academic language about the ocean. One example the book uses academic language is the word photosythesis. The author could describe photosynthesis using certain language but instead chooses to use the word because students reading this text need to know the scientific adcademic vocabulary. Another example of academic language that I found useful was Phylum. Phylum is the class under Kingdom in the classification system. Overall I found the book very interesting and helpful to young students because it described academic language used. 5/5. ( )

This graphic novel is an informational text about coral reefs and all kinds of cities that are in the ocean. I enjoyed looking at this text because throughout the text the author included jokes in the illustration which I thought kept readers to be engaged. I think it's a good book to have in your classroom library when teaching about the cities of the ocean. ( )
