Estante 5 Being a how-to for amateurs to teach themselves to administer a massage. Originally published at a time when professionals were much less common than they are now, especially outside of metropolitan areas, it has served a very fine purpose, and for the most part the illustrations and text combine to teach effectively. The book's binding is not conducive to reading whilst massaging, though, and this could be easily remedied. He also insists on positing that readers will be using a massage table, which is almost certainly a small minority of users in the real world. God isn’t this book so 70's. Do they still write them like this? I think that the writers and readers list is in the same lets make knowledge accessible school. Love the irony that it talks about massage as health and not sexual alone then most of the illustrations are about being naked! Also when ever I read this I slip into a vision of a life not lived. In this life I do massage, and yoga, eat organically from my river side cottage small-holding, vote green but worry that they may be selling out. Follow an eastern guru and send my children to a Steiner school. Love folk and world music as along as the artists get royalties. Love reading but not writers that sell out and win prizes. Clothes are from my trips and shops my friends have set up to ensure fair-trade and never from a chain. MacDonald’s are evil incarnate and the Americans are the destroyers of world peace… My sour tone is that I have dipped into this lifestyle but found that for many it was a middle class revolt against another type of mainstream middle class life. You need money and resources to live this lifestyle and smacks of the English snobbery of “trade”. Find it offers little for the poor in this country but open to arguments that the ideas of the green lifestyle open up debates on what is fair trade, It also links to an older tradition of anti-imperialism and anti-colonist struggle. Equally open to the idea that the socialist project and who to benefit from that project has to change as the economic and social organisation of what is working class has changed. So when did we give up the struggle for the shorter working week? Why do we work longer hours, and need two adult incomes and yet live a more socially impoverished life then our parents? Why are we goods rich but time poor? In the UK the average weekly work time dropped by one-third from 63 to fewer than 42 hours between 1856-1981 yet do you work those hours? Likely if you live the above lifestyle due to your economic circumstances but for the rest of us-And for the 3rd world worker? ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
