Bryan Collier’s illustrations earned it multiple illustrator awards including Caldecott and Coretta Scott King honors. An excellent biography introduction to the man who has inspired millions. ~Best Picture Books About Racism and Inequality inspirational book about MLK Jr and how he came to be the man he was for the Civil Rights Movement Since he was a boy, Martin wanted to inspire others. The text in this book is easy to understand yet very powerful. This is a great book to use as a classroom tool to introduce Dr. King to young children. The message is a powerful one about equality and conviction. Must have in your classroom library! Nonfiction- autobiography Growing up, Martin saw white’s only signs all over his hometown. He felt bad when he read these words. His mom would tell him that he is just as good as anyone. When he grew up he became a minister like his father. Martin said love when others said hate, and that is what made him different from others. For 381 days people did not ride the buses to peacefully protest Rosa Parks being arrested. Martin walked and talked with people protesting for equal rights. Martin reminded the people of the power of love when they were being beaten and put in jail. His own house was bombed but still he refused to stop. He gave a speech about his dream he had for Alabama and the country. After 10 years of protests, the signs came down. He won the Nobel Peace Prize and was adored by many for teaching to fight with words and not fists. He was shot and killed, but his work is still able to be seen today. I though this book was filled with a lot of information. This would be a good book to share during a civil rights lesson in history to incorporate reading. This book as won awards and has really good pictures/drawings for the illustrations. Children's book - Simplistic even for a children's book. Ends weird. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
