To find out what one really wants, and what it costs, and how to pay what it costs, is an important part of everyone's life work. We are very unlikely to do something new, difficult, and demanding until after we have spent some time imagining or dreaming ourselves doing it. I have to accept at each moment, as a fact of life, my present skill or lack of skill, and do the best I can, without blaming myself for not being able to do better. I have to be aware of my mistakes and shortcomings without being ashamed of them. I have to keep in view the distant goal, without worrying about how far away it is or reproaching myself for not being already there. | |
