Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she's left bruised and devastated-and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they'll kill her. Then there's Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy's bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else-he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him? But as the Fae Prince begins to close in, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn't figure out who she can trust-and fast-it's not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.… (mere)

The opening is intriguing but it totally misses the tone of the first book.
It's silly and ridiculous and takes itself at best only half-serious.
Main characters suffer from a major case of fucking stupid as well as stupid fucking and ogling and cringeworthy dirty talk and all that.
The mc has completely fucked up moral priorities but it seems like the author believes this is perfectly fine. I can't even put into words how fucked up this is without spoiling it.
Emotions that before were, if a bit scrambled, at least consistent and explained are now just a tool for the melodrama in the current scene and everything is forgotten immediately after. No consequences.
The amount of plot convenience is staggering as well. All common sense and logic are thrown out the window and are replaced by sad caricatures whos only purpose it is to justify the mindbogglingly stupid plot.
Dnf 70% in but I should've and wanted to drop it at 20% already. ( )

I feel like there is a lot of potential in these books but it gets wasted. ( )

Much better than the first, still mediocre, a little slow and far too many pop culture/modern references and slang. Also a lot of spelling errors ( )

I'm in such a terrible yet delicious book hangover from Wicked. I need Torn now!!

In the second book of the Wicked series, the story has become darker with more twists. Ivy and the Order have failed to keep the Prince of the Winter Court from entering our world. Now all he needs is a halfling woman to impregnate so he can open all the gates between the worlds.
There's a lot more violence in this more somber story, though we still have Tink to lighten things up. Ivy and Ren are both captured and tortured by the Fae who really don't care at all about humans, regarding them like cattle.
It's an interesting world and I'm curious to see where the author is going in the final book. Judging by the number of twists and betrayals so far, I'm in for an exciting ride. ( )
