I'm amazed that I am the first reader here to proffer a review. Be that as it may, there is nothing not to like in this book. It tells of the triumphs of Street & Smith during the hundred years of 1855 through 1955 and the numerous magazines, newspapers, and books they produced. I would like to see it updated through to 2005, however, as I have rarely heard the publishers name before this reading. Or, as Mary said to Papa the day he blew his head off, ":what have you written for us lately?"
More telling is the dearth of recognition I gave to the publication titles. Other than Astounding Stories and the names of a some half a dozen writers -- e.g., Max Brand, Horatio Alger Jr., Zane Grey, Truman Capote, these stories were made to dp as the paper they were p0ublished on did -- crumble away to obscuirty.
