I feel like it was a series of complaints about the weather, the scariness of border towns, and suspicions about sketchy people who looked like they might want to rob them. (But never *actually* did anything). Humourless with little of the sense of either overcoming challenge and obstacles or change in the author's point of view or life (aside from the obvious change in lifestyle.) So, with the lack of that and any tension, pressure, or dynamic, it left me cold. ( ) I enjoyed the writing style of this book which is to the point, descriptive and therefore rather dry. I prefer traveler's description of events, places and experiences as unbiased by personal opinion as possible. In this aspect, Tim and Cindie Travis did a great job. The only thing I was missing in the book were maps of the places, preferably with a track depicting their travels. Not a major issue, but I always made sure I had map or an online access to one at hand. Overall a very enjoyable book and I am very much looking forward to the sequel - Down the Road in South America. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
Authors Tim and Cindie Travis accomplish the unthinkable, in an unprecedented worldwide cycling adventure. Their clever story explores the depths of humanity, as they expose themselves to life's perils on roads less traveled. This story is written as it happened, on the road in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. No library descriptions found. |
