An interesting collection of Amish novellas that all have one common thread. Four babies were born on a stormy winter night by one midwife. It was the talk of the town and of the nation. Decades later one reporter wants to do a follow up piece and see where the Amish babies are now. Each novella in this collection focuses on a different baby. One is a murder mystery with a fudge shop, another is about an adopted English girl that discovers her birth family was Amish. In another, a woman breaks off her engagement with her beloved over mysterious circumstances. And in the last a twelve year old boy will stop at nothing to get his older brother home for Christmas. All have ties to the North Star Amish community, and all the stories take place at Christmas. I actually did enjoy all four. I wouldn't mind reading another collection like this! ( )

These four novellas are interrelated in that they revolve around four babies all born during a 2000 blizzard in North Star, Pennsylvania, to Amish couples. Midwife Rebekah Schlabach delivers the babies at her birthing center; just her and the new mothers-to-be. It was quiet a night. All went well and the babies became known as Rebekah’s Babies. The years passed. It’s now 2015.
In the first novella, Guiding Star, author Katie Ganshert gets the ball rolling. Englischer Chase Wellington discovers an article about the babies in his mother’s attic. It seems that one of the babies and her mother disappeared shortly after she arrived. Chase is a freelance reporter and decides to investigate what happened to them.
In the second story, Mourning Star,Eden is a single woman working at her parents’ creamery, Dutch Village Fudge. Every day Isaac Yoder comes in to satisfy his sweet tooth. Eden and Isaac become friends; that’s all since he’s so much older. But when Isaac is killed by one of the horses he boards at his stables, Eden has a gut feeling it wasn’t an accident.
The third novella, In the Stars, Kore Detweiler isn’t Amish. He was ready to join the community, but after the third of Rebekah’s babies, Savilla Beiler, rejects him, he moves to Virginia. However, when he grandmother takes a fall and doesn’t regain consciousness right away, the family fears the worst. Kore heads home. He knows he will run into Savilla, but isn’t sure he can control his emotions.
In the final novella, Star of Grace, Andy Danner wants nothing to do with the North Star community after Nellie isn’t ready to marry him. He moved to Mississippi and prefers to stay there for the rest of his life. However, his younger brother Sam misses him. A lot. Andy agrees to come him if Sam earns the money to buy a ticket.
All the stories were well done. There isn’t a lot of tension in any of them. But readers usually know that when they pick up a book like this. Still, the stories have all the qualities necessary for a good story: good plot, a little romance, some mystery, and a moral. And since all take place at Christmas, it was a heartwarming read.
I give Amish Christmas at North Star 3 out of 5 stars. A nice read; nothing really special. ( )

Four babies enter the world on a snowy night and their lives become connected by the midwife who delivered them. While these four stories are really standalones, they are woven together by the prologue and the epilogue. The charm of this collection is that five authors came together to write in their own styles, yet they have a common thread in the setting of the tales. And so, we have a novel that is part romance, part mystery, and part murder mystery. And while all are well-written with interesting characters, you will undoubtedly have a favorite tale or two in this collection. I especially enjoyed the offerings by Amanda Flower and Katie Ganshert. ( )

You get to hear about all four babies that were born near Christmas. Rebecca is an Amish midwife. In Guiding Star it about a 25-year old disappearing from an Amish baby. Will there be love for Elle McAllister? We get a quite a nice way to see what her life is like after being born on that snowy night with three other babies.

Morning Star is about a girl named Eden Hochstetler. She wants to investigate her friends Isaac death. It has got her thinking about who could have done it and hurt Isaac. She meets his great nephew Jesse. Who is guilty? Does she start to fall for Jesse? Who in their community is the one to hurt Isaac and want him killed.

What happens in the Stars”, is about a family that wants to stay together. Will Kole, and Savilla be able to do that and still find love for themselves, What can make to lives back together with other than a trouble of children? One that is expecting to get another member adopted and brought home. Kole and Savilla you can find out more about them.

Andy is schemed to bring back home. His little brother tries to fetch him home and this is a story of Grace. I really do enjoy the family and time together. Will Andy find love while he comes home and is forgiven? ( )

This is a book of 4 wonderful Christmas novellas. These are all Amish stories that are connected by a single night in December. The main characters of each story were born on December 1 in an Amush birthing clinic in the town of North Star.
I loved every story and they were all wonderful. The four stories are Guiding Star by Katie Ganshert, Mourning Star by Amanda Flower, In the Stars by Cindy Woodsmall and Star of Grace by Mindy Starns Clark and Emily Clark.
I did not want to put any of the stories down. This is such an uplifting set of Christmas novellas.
I received this book from Bloggingforbooks for a fair and honest opinion. ( )
