This is an amazing story filled with characters that are flawed, complicated, and undeniably lovable. It's a highly emotional story as Neve deals with her past and her insecurities and Rory deals with family expectations. Neve and Rory first meet as pen pals while he's deployed to Afghanistan. Her letters are funny, entertaining, and just a little bit naughty. They are exactly what he needs to help him get through some very hard days. While Rory's home for a short leave, Neve comes to his family pub and helps him live out one of the fantasies he's shared in his letters. After a misunderstanding, Neve goes running. Rory knows he will do whatever it takes to spend more time with her! This one should go on the must read list. I highly recommend it. This was my first time reading a book by Ms. Marcus. I had not read the first book in this series. So, I can honestly say this book can be read as a stand alone. I didn't feel like I was missing anything substantial. I loved how the story started out with the letters the main characters had written each other. It was nice to be introduced to the characters in the same way as they were introduced to each other. This story is full of misunderstandings, conflict and humor. It is well written and the characters are well matched. ARC received from Loveswept in exchange for an honest review. I wasn't that crazy about this book. I couldn't get pass a few things; Rory being only 5'4" was one thing that bothered me. Probably because I'm much taller then he is and I just can't picture him being that short and buff and taking on 6' men who seemed scared of him. I also thought that Neve was kinda a bitch. She doesn't go to the doctor when she's so sick and when she finally does, she doesn't listen to them. She wants Rory to not treat her as a sexual object, but she's the one who put a limit on their time together, she's the one who keeps bringing it up in almost every conversation, she's the one having sex in a school parking lot. I just got tired of her and couldn't really figure out what Rory saw in her. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Hailed by Jennifer Probst as a "sexy, heartfelt story," this sweet military romance reunites a headstrong dancer and a rugged army soldier after one steamy encounter tears them apart. As a dancer who creates mesmerizing visions onstage, Neve James is looking for the same kind of stability in her love life. Her pen pal, Rory McRoy, is on leave from deployment in Afghanistan, so she heads to Boston to surprise him. After corresponding for months as part of a "Support Our Troops" initiative--and exchanging dozens of "Read When You're Alone" letters--Neve knows what Rory likes, and she intends to fulfill his every fantasy. But all they get are a few blissful moments together before they're interrupted by a woman claiming to be Rory's fiancée. Rory has fallen hard for Neve's letters. When he finally meets her in person, he has to have her, right then and there--until Neve takes off in a fit of anger. Forced to return to Afghanistan before he can fix things between them, Rory waits four agonizing months to prove that he's not the man Neve thinks he is. The Neve, I was expecting was this spunky, witty, confident girl. Sadly for me, I found her lacking the self worth I expected her to have. She was a hard character for me to relate to. I could not understand her choices, why she thought and/or acted the way she did.. and at times this really frustrated me. I don't agree with, what I took to be her whole "sex solves everything" theory and found it got a bit tiresome of watching her berating herself after for being "that girl."
Rory was a good character. He proved himself to be caring and I loved how he seemed to make sure to show Neve that she was worth a lot in his eyes.
I quite enjoy this authors writing style and I really hope Neve's brother Nate gets a book... there's a line or so in the epilogue I believe.. that makes me think that he just might! I look forward to reading more from her.
