Fun and funny. It's the second book in a series I've never read, so I'm looking forward to getting the other three from the library ASAP. ( )

This is a silly book about a girl wanting to bring her piano to the beach. She promises her mom she will be in charge of the piano and take good care of it. A series of events happen making it hard for her to take care of the piano and she ends up leaving the beach without it. I like this book because my students find it funny and can relate to it at the same time. At one point or another they have all wanted to bring a special toy or item somewhere where their parents didn't want them to bring it. Like the girl in the story they learned that maybe their parents know best. ( )

A silly picture book about why you shouldn't bring a piano to the beach. Pretty much exactly my kind of humor. I loved it. The little girl's expressions as the piano gets more and more ruined at the beach are priceless. ( )

IF YOU EVER WANT TO BRING A PIANO TO THE BEACH, DON’T! by Elise Parsley is the second book in the humorous “MAGNOLIA SAYS DON’T” series.

This cautionary tale follows Magnolia who is determined to bring her piano to the beach. From fighting off nesting seagulls to washing the piano in the ocean, Magnolia deals with disaster after disaster before deciding that bringing a piano to the beach is a bad idea.

The combination of adorable, brightly colored illustrations with an unexpected ending make this picture book useful for read-aloud experiences. Librarians will find that the book lends itself to endless classroom connections for discussion and writing activities.

If your mom says to get ready to play at the beach, she means with a boat, or a Frisbee, or a shovel. She is not talking about the piano.
