a wonderfully simple book! especially if the classroom has a variety of kiddos regarding their understanding of feelings. it includes 'masks' for each emotion that kids can try on (they're attached to the pages). each emotion is associated with a different color. This book could be a natural start to art/craft time to make masks. This books lists various events that may be associated with a specific emotion but the students could add to the list and can also disagree with the list.

A fun book with catchy illustrations that talks about many different emotions. The monsters have different things happen to them that have them experience many different emotions. The book also has pull out masks that help make the book interactive for the children. ( )

This story is a great story to talk about emotions and feelings. Everyone has different feelings and it is ok to feel different sometimes. Grade-2nd

Summary- The book shows a variety of different emotions including happiness, anger, sadness, and loving. The artwork is very simple, but very bright and colorful. Each emotion includes a different mask that students can use to express their emotions easily.

Personal Reaction- The book gives examples of different things that make the monsters feel each emotion. I like that the children can be very involved in the book even if it is just making the faces of the feelings as they are being read to. When I was younger, my family used to have a magnetic calender that had little faces on them expressing all kinds of different emotions. This book reminds me of that. We used to put up a magnet by our name for that day to show how we felt.

Classroom Extensions- This book can be used on a unit about emotions where students can talk about their own feelings and what make them feel those ways. Students can also make their own masks out of easy and different shapes.

Summary: The book shows a variety of emotions including anger, loving, and happiness. The bright colors on the black background really make the pictures stand out. Each emotion has a mask that children can be involved in the book.

Personal reaction: This book is a good to read to children learning how to express emotions. The pictures were very vivid and the children easily see the emotions. I really love the bright colors in this book because I feel like the children pay more attention to colors.

Classroom Extension Ideas: The book can be used for a unit of emotions. I can use the masks to talk about things that are making them glad or sad. Also I can use the mask as a art project and let the children create their own masks to express how they feel.
