Since I was a little girl, I have enjoyed a good western filled with colorful characters and tons of action, so when I came across this book, I knew I had to read it! The series is exceptional! The male lead is Luke Jensen who works as a bounty hunter with standards he doesn’t allow to lapse such as honesty, true to his word and upholding the law. Luke is fighting for his life many times throughout the pages in the novel. If it isn’t one bad hombre, he is colliding with it is the elements he is fighting, and sometimes even Luke gets tripped up, though not for long!
Luke has caught his man, but he may just have at tiger by the tail when a woman fancies herself so in love with the law breaker, she goes to any length to save his bacon! Luke isn’t just fighting a ruthless killer; he is fighting a lady who has crossed the line when she commits murder to free her man. Frank McClusky is wanted by the law for many reasons but Delia fancies herself so in love with him as to think Frank will marry her once he is free from Luke’s grasp.
Luke runs into a man who fought beside him in the war between he states and thought they had a good friendship, until that man blows up the train tracks so he can grab the loot! The plot and action just kept going throughout the pages, and I couldn’t put it down. Towards the conclusion I knew it couldn’t be ending up nicely as it at first appeared, and I was spot on. The last-minute twists and turns in the plot were the best!
Luke Jensen is a fun and exciting character whose adventures are never boring; I think you might enjoy reading all the books in the Bounty Hunter series. The series titles in the Johnstone Luke Jensen Bounty Hunter series are (to date): Bounty Hunter, Dead Shot, Bloody Sunday, Bad Men Die, Death Rides Alone, Legion of Fire, Burning Daylight and coming out soon Hired Guns.
