A classic sword and sorcery tale featuring Garth, the non-human swordsman. Great classic fantasy. Short and to the point. ( ) I would consider this a light read but I was satisfied by the characterization of the lead persona. Most people will find him unbelivably naive in his world view, which in turn seems to hint at a less deep looking world compared to the masters of modern fantasy. I; however, found it charming and consistent. The protaganist is part of a magically created race that has had little interaction with humans for some 300 years. Thus, it is understandable if the character seems a little shallow and gullible. As future books will reveal, there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

The overman named Garth sought immortal fame. The oracle told him to serve the Forgotten King to get that fame. But this King sent Garth after a basilisk whose gaze could turn men to stone. What sane use could anyone have for a monster like that? No library descriptions found. |
