Well, I almost didn't read this one, that's how much I hated Dexters Final Cut, but I'm glad I did (I think). It was much much better than Final Cut. At least a return to the way the series was written, I still wonder if Mr. Lindsay really wrote Final Cut or not...but anyway, I actually believe he wrote Dexter is Dead. I really enjoyed the reunion of Dexter and Brian but not the dynamic between Dexter and Deb. The plot kind of lacked the usual Dexter plot, but I guess this is the direction it had to take after that flop of Final Cut. A little on the predictable side also, but I can forgive that. The one thing that bugged me was the lack of finality at the end, sure you can read it one way, or another, but it's not definite. If this is the finale of the series, end it definitely (or will Dexter make a Holmsian comeback years in the future? Who knows). All in all, not the best book in the series, by far, but also not the worst either. ( ![]() For those who don’t know, Dexter the book has a very different storyline than Dexter the TV show, but if you are reading book 8, you know this. This brings the story full circle. Dexter is out of jail, working with Brian, and Deb will come in the picture. The good is the Dark Passenger barely makes an appearance. That is good because it became a little too weird with it somewhere along the line. The bad is the Dark Passenger barely makes an appearance. The Dexter who murders murderers is not present as Dexter must behave, so it is Dexter if he wasn’t a killer. That Dexter likes to eat and play with his name, but we need the stabby stabby Dexter and he is not here. This truly is Dexter’s ending. No spoilers, but the ride is truly over unlike the TV series. A good fun ride through 8 books. Will miss Dexter, but it also needed to end. Overall I think the ending was justified for this series. This book was good in its own right but was essentially the after math of book 7. In my opinion, book 7 really didn't fit in the series and Dexter acted and thought very differently than in previous books....which means that continues in book 8. Although he does have a little more of his old self, almost everything he does is reactionary, rather than the emotionless, planning predator from earlier books Not feeling good about the ending. A good book and satisfying ending to Dastardly Dexter. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

"After seven national bestsellers and eight seasons as one of the most successful shows on television, New York Times bestselling author Jeff Lindsay bids a thrilling farewell to his uniquely twisted and beloved serial killer, Dexter Morgan. Dexter Is Dead is the definitive conclusion of the character who has become a global icon. Dexter Morgan has burned the candle at both ends for many years. Blood spatter analyst. husband. father. serial killer. And now, for the first time, his world has truly collapsed. Dexter is arrested on charges of murder. He has lost everything--including his wife, his kids, and the loyalty of his sister. Now completely alone, Dexter faces a murder charge (for a crime. ironically. he did not actually commit). His only chance for freedom lies with his brother, Brian, who has a dark plan to prove Dexter's innocence. But the stakes are deadly, and the epic showdown that lies in Dexter's path may lead, once and for all, to his demise. Jeff Lindsay's trademark devilish wit and cutting satire have never been sharper. Dexter Is Dead marks the end of a beloved series, but is also Dexter's most satisfying and suspenseful outing yet"-- No library descriptions found. |
