After a car accident when she was 16 years old, which killed her mother and caused her father to become brain damaged, Felicity was left to raise herself. Over the years she worked hard to educate herself as a chef, and became head chef at The Bancroft, a fancy Seattle hotel. There she befriended Vern, a lonely old man, who, a few years later, chose to gift the hotel and restaurant to her in his will. As the new owner, Felicity thought all her money worries were over. Unfortunately Blake Bancroft, Vern’s billionaire nephew, is upset that his uncle gave away part of his successful hotel chain to a her, and is determined to wrest it from her at all costs. The two soon begin a battle over the hotel, which pits each against the other. Neither is willing to compromise on the hotel’s ownership but, in time, begin to develop feelings for each other which leads to even more confusion as they’ve both been sure that love and business don’t mix. Or do they? Russell’s extremely steamy love scenes will make a sailor blush as she tells Felicity and Blake’s stories. Though not a sailor, I did a lot of blushing. I liked their battle of wills and the drama between them, but thought Russell rushed too much to tie things up in a neat bow at the end – especially between Destiny and Felicity. However, despite this, I will recommend it to Adult readers. Recommended for Adults. Book review link: https://shouldireaditornot.wordpress.com/2017/06/16/flirting-with-felicity-gerri... I really liked the plot wherein restaurant hotel chef is left everything by its owner. Its historical aspect and its employees who are like family to her are her primary importance. Blake Bancroft wants the hotel and wants to renovate it which could put its employees out of their jobs for a year and the ambiance of the hotel. Getting involved with your opponent not so bright especially when he has the legal teams to squash someone with limited resources like a bug. I think the sub-plot of the editor of the Seattle Gazette plotting revenge against the Bancroft family using Felicity's former friend could have been made stronger while some of the more graphic sexual content could have been downplayed. The plot is strong enough as is and Felicity is very interactive in her community, from buying local to helping people learn to cook in her kitchen so they have skills to use in finding an occupation I received this book as a Kindle First giveaway. It's a light romantic novel featuring a Seattle chef, Felicity, who inherits the hotel and restaurant where she works from one of her favorite customers, Vern (who, as it turns out, was its millionaire owner). Of course, as it turns out, Vern's nephew Blake, a billionaire real estate developer, has other plans for the property, and the money to fight the will. I do give Russell credit for making Blake interested in renovating the property to make it a green, flagship hotel, the crown jewel of his empire, rather than having more nefarious plans. But beyond that, the plot is fairly predicable - tall, handsome billionaire, struggling female protagonist who grew up poor and has no idea how gorgeous she really is. Not quality literature by any means, but a pretty harmless diversion. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
Felicity Wright never expected to inherit the hotel where she works as head chef. But now, she'll do anything to keep the Bancroft Hotel operating--even if that means mixing it up with the late owner's handsome nephew, Blake Bancroft. He's here to challenge her unexpected inheritance of the Bancroft Hotel, and there's no way either of them are walking away without a fight. When his uncle wills away his family's oldest property, Blake Bancroft cooks up a plan to get it back. To check out his competition, he'll need to check in. Too bad his first encounter with Felicity proves to be anything but smooth. As their battle over ownership begins, things begin to heat up between them--and not just in the kitchen. Their attraction may be a recipe for disaster. Yet with the right ingredients, it could turn into a recipe for love...In her debut contemporary romance, award-winning historical romance author Gerri Russell whips up a sweet, passionate, and unforgettably delectable story. Wow. I received this as a freebie on Amazon. The cover is cute. I was pretty much done when I read the line, "her breasts tightened." I did push through, but ended up just skimming and then reading the final chapter. I don't think I'm a good reader for "contemporary romance."
First aborted book of 2015! ( )
