Historical Christian Romance - hit all the marks. Authentic historic development, great character development, and interactions. Add the struggles coming to a relationship with God in an ungodly place like a mining town was quite well described. Without giving away too much plot, the reality of vigilante justice was real and harsh, quite often going well past true justice. ( )

I love this entire trilogy. Historical and romance fictions lovers would love this book. ( )

I think it was a fairly good book, but not one that I would classify as a favorite. It just didn't draw me in well enough. ( )

This is the tale of a trusting young girl whose heart was broken by her fiance, causing her to leave home on the promise of home ownership and opportunities for women in a small Colorado town. Along the way, her trusting nature causes her problems. Once she gets to the town, she finds her home is already occupied by several rough men. She trusts the town's attorney with her claim (and later some valuable belongings that she was able to salvage). But later she starts to wonder if she was wise to trust him.

In the end she finds what she believes to be true love from the unlikeliest source.

I found the pacing a bit slow at times, and the diary entries of Rose seemed disjointed and hard to follow. I wasn't sure how they fit in with the storyline. ( )
