When Santosh Wagh isn't struggling out of a bottle of whisky he's head of Private India, the Mumbai branch of the world's finest PI agency. In a city of over thirteen million he has his work cut out at the best of times. But now someone is killing women--seemingly unconnected women murdered in a chilling ritual, with strange objects placed carefully at their death scenes. As Santosh and his team race to find the killer, an even greater danger faces Private India--a danger that could threaten the lives of thousands of innocent Mumbai citizens.… (mere)

Adventure
  BooksInMirror | Feb 19, 2024 |
Synopsis: Private is world wide organization, and the head of the office in India is an alcoholic. However, when he's sober he is brilliant. There is a serial killer on the loose, targeting women. What links them is a mystery, but they are all strangled with a yellow scarf and posed with odd things tied to their bodies. It's assumed that the killer is a man; this is backed up by a single image from a security camera. But is this accurate and what reason does the killer have for these murders?
Review: I don't have much patience with 'broken' people who do nothing to fix themselves. Get some help and get on with your life. Sometimes this story drags. The story is relatively circular. ( )

This book, though has the names of both James Patterson & Ashwin Sanghi on the cover, feels to be entirely written by Ashwin Sanghi and promoted using Patterson's name. This is a trademark Ashwin Sanghi thriller with a series of killings with symbols connected to Hindu mythology. There is nothing refreshingly new in this novel. The only thing working in its favour is that the chapters are short and the action is fast enough to hold the reader's attention. ( )

I usually read a James Patterson book in one day and will stay up all night to finish it, but was disappointed with this one. The story was somewhat rambling with bits and pieces here and there. All the Private employees were damaged in some way and their stories were spit out here and there. The crime(s) were tied in somewhat with Indian Mythology. I was able to figure out the murderer earlier in the story which another reviewer also said, and that is unusual for a Patterson book. I would skip this one if you are a Patterson lover, it will disappoint. ( )

A successful collaboration. A private agency investigates serial ritualistic killings in Mumbai. Short chapters & speedy character outlines made for a pacy drama.

I have an out-dated vision of India, so found this glimpse of the capital fascinating, taking in as it did so many classes, religions, & from the poorest to the wealthiest. And corruption pervading throughout. ( )
