Each sight, treasure, museum, & event is decribed with zest & imagination, along with uncommon facts, observations, & conversations with people enamored of particular spots. The tours offer novel perspectives on familiar sights as well as many places that will be new even to the most-seasoned New York explorers. They include: Trinity Church & Churchyard, the Brooklyn Museum & Brooklyn Botanic Garden, South Street Seaport, the Police & Fireman Museums, the Pierpont Morgan Library, the National Museum of the American Indian, & the Morris-Jumel Mansion, "the only surviving pre-Revolutionary house in Manhattan" & once home of Eliza Bowden Jumel ("a fascinating & controversial woman"). Each tour is illustrated with photographs, some archival, & approximately 50 restaurants are reviewed.
