Good picture book that shows expression of dressing. When reading this to students it could show kids that its alright to be how they are and to not bully kids when they don’t do what the gender norm is. ( )

A truth I learned from this book: it doesn't matter what gender you are or what you're wearing or whether or not anyone thinks what you're wearing matches your gender (whatever that means); if you have a spaceship, and its got elephants on it, and your cat has a space helmet on, then you are winning the imagination game and everyone wants to be friends with you. And if someone still has a problem with your tangerine dress and heels, you just ignore them and continue living in space. ( )

Morris Micklewhite loves school. He especially loves the dress up center. Morris loves the tangerine dress, how it moves, how it looks and how it feels. But the other kids don't like that he is wearing it. A great story to share with kids of all ages and get the converstation going about kindness, inclusion and acceptance. A good companion to Want to Play Trucks? and My Princess Boy. ( )

A beautiful story about acceptance. Morris has a wonderful mother that accepts him and encourages him to be his most authentic self. Morris loves the tangerine dress that reminds him of his mothers hair. His classmates are much less accepting, and it makes him feel bad. Eventually though, with the love and acceptance at home his friends eventually come around, and they are all able to have a good time together. ( )

Morris is a boy who loves to wear this tangerine dress. He loves it because it is the same color as his mother’s hair and it makes crinkle sounds that go with the click clack sounds of his shoes. Lots of people at school make fun of Morris for being like a girl. The boys think he will turn them into a girl. Eventually most of them realize that it doesn’t matter that Morris is wearing a tangerine dress and that they can all have fun together still. I think this is a very important message for kids. I strongly believe that boys painting their nails, wearing dresses, or dancing does not mean they will be gay and even if they are that that is okay. I also think that many people do not know how prevalent it is for boys to want to do or wear these things. I think it is important to let kids express themselves in whatever way they like and this story really emphasizes that. ( )
