This book is about a young girl coming to terms with the fact that her family is moving and the many changes that come along with this. At first, she doesn't understand why her family is having a big yard sale and getting rid of everything they own. At the end of the book, the young girl accepts the changes that are happening in her life and understands that as long as she has her family everything will be okay. This would be a good book to read for students to understand that change can be a good thing. It shows the different emotions that the girl is feeling. Change can be a hard concept to understand, and this book does a good job of exploring the emotions that arise due to change and how to overcome those negative emotions. I really like this book for multiple reasons. First, I really like the illustrations that helped to depict what the words were telling. It shows the emotions that Callie, the main character, is feeling as she must sell her things before her family moves. Lauren Castillo’s illustrations make it look as though it is a coloring book that is colored in due to her use of lines, which is very visually appealing. I like that Eve Bunting includes why Callie does not want to move and here hopes that she is able to move back. I think that including details of where she lives now and the differences in where she is moving helps to explain why her family must sell some of their belongings. Lastly, I like that this book is relatable to many students who must move and sell their things before moving. I like that the book validates that it is okay to feel sad to let your things go when moving to a different place, but there are always new things to look forward to when you move. The message of this book is that even though you may sell everything, you will always have your family. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Callie and her family are moving from their house to an apartment, so they're having a yard sale. It can be hard to let things go, but in the end, it's who you have - not what you have - that counts. No library descriptions found. |
