Der er ingen diskussionstråde på Snak om denne bog. Enjoyable paranormal and somewhat historical mystery. Set in 19th century New England (fictional harbor town), featuring an eccentric sleuth somewhere between Dr. Who and Sherlock Holmes, and an adventurous young English woman. A solid pick for Tweens who like these genres. Beautiful cover art, too. I think it was the cover art that first drew me in. ( ![]() Jackaby is a supernatural detective (although he won't use that term). He investigates the odd, interesting, and unknown and helps to solve crimes when the perpetrator is not exactly human. His new assistant, Abigail Rook, is great. She's fun, she's smart, she's definitely not shy. The entire time I'm reading this book I'm picturing a young Johnny Depp as Jackaby. This takes place in the late 19th century in a New England town - a great setting for this fun YA novel. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. I had a good time reading this book and I'd like more!! I see there is a second one coming out soon. did tumblr write this book? you can tell me. I quite enjoyed this mystery set in the 1890’s with supernatural characters. Abigail has taken her tuition money and run away from home to have adventures and finds herself far from home in New England, America. She manages to find employment with an eccentric investigator and has adventures after all. It would be fine for middle school or high school students. I don't have much to say about this book. It was really fun at times, but at the same time there were very boring moments. Belongs to SeriesJackaby (1)
Newly arrived in 1892 New England, Abigail Rook becomes assistant to R.F. Jackaby, an investigator of the unexplained with the ability to see supernatural beings, and she helps him delve into a case of serial murder which, Jackaby is convinced, is due to a nonhuman creature.
