Less than six months ago my life was twisted and flipped on its side. Things have changed so much I barely recognize myself anymore. I am no longer an Enforcer. I am no longer a Witch. I no longer hate the Fae. (For the most part) And the sex-on-a-stick-gorgeous-Fae? He isn't really the Dark Prince. No, he is the father of my children and with the babies on the way, the land dying and the Mages closing in; alliances will have to be formed if we are all to make it through the war that is coming to our front door.… (mere)

*slams figurative stack of books on the table because I read these in e-book form*
Alright, I read four of these puppies because I am a romance completionist. I read until I feel like the romance storyline is complete. I know that the person who reads erotica for plot is a bit of a dummy, but I am a dummy. I do not rate them highly because as a general rule I love enemies-to-lovers, but I hate emotionally constipated assholes, and that is what the MMC was for the majority of four books until maybe 20% into this one where he admits he loves her. I just feel like all of these books need at least two additional editorial passes, one for copyediting and one for content. Lots of typos. But my real beef is the constant retconning that is happening between books and even between chapters. Like, this is not a long-running comic book series, these are a series of erotic books, and the story just feels like one run-on unedited sentence. That being said the writer has good ideas that get dropped, like a lot. In the first book the protagonist is given traits like the fact that she is a good detective that never come up again. Her best friend Adam is her familiar, this is a plot thread that essentially gets dropped. It was clearly a setup for her to have a male friend, but then turned into a love triangle for no reason. Larissa's death is narratively dumb; she should have been the villain of book one. It is heavily implied for two books that Ryder is the Horde king, but he comes out and says he isn't, so when it is revealed he is it doesn't feel like a reveal so much as the writer changing her mind midstream. The internal lore gets weirder and dumber every single book, and actively contradicts established tropes for no reason. The protagonist is very passive for large chunks of the book, which is frustrating. She is one part macguffin, which is never a good idea because of this very problem, so everybody cares about protecting her and she rarely has to make decisions. I don't really understand what the antagonists want. I think it's genocide? This series is sustained on melodrama alone, these are soap opera style plots. The protagonist's parentage is a constantly changing plot point. The sex scenes are steamy, so there's that, but I don't really like Ryder for three books, so that was my main difficulty. ( )

Excellent

Seducing Destiny book 4 in the fae chronicles was just as enthralling as the previous 3. A lot of questions are answered and we see Ryder and syn develop more as a partnership, as usual loved it, the fire and passion between our two main characters is hypnotic, this series is just so addictive this is a second read for me, if you still enjoy it just as much second time around or even want to read it a second time the author must be doing a damn fine job in my opinion. Anyway amazing read you won't regret giving a go . ( )

I had to do a reread of the entire series since it had been so long since I had read the first book. I had forgotten how much I loved the world and story that Amelia Hutchins has created. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series as well as the new Elite Guard series she started. ( )

Gods and goddesses and babies, oh my! A LOT happened in this book, but I feel like I can't rant and rave about it without giving away spoilers. And because I'm writing this after I've just finished the book at 2:30am, I'm too lazy to try to include spoiler tags. So I will try to keep everything general.

Ryder finally stops being an ass in this book! Yay. Of course something has to happen to cause his shift in attitude, but isn't that always the case with thick-headed men? Seriously there were at least 5 huge events in this book. Syn has a big secret that she is keeping from everyone. We find out more about her heritage. We get to see just how sick Faolan really is. Babies come! New characters are introduced. There are some mini showdowns, but we're still moving toward the big mamajama (which I'm guessing will conclude the series).

I'm not sure how many books the author intends to have in the series... but with the new wrenches she has thrown in, she could keep it going for a while. And that does not displease me at all. The writing has improved as the series has progressed. Re-reading the first part of the series, I sometimes felt that the dialogue was bad between Syn and Ryder (mostly in Book 2). I did find myself skimming the sex scenes in this book... not because they were bad, but because I was anxious to get back to the story and find out what was going to happen next. Now I'm faced with an interminable wait for the next book. I HATE waits like this! ( )
