Every dreary day, Zach Driscoll takes the elevator from the penthouse apartment of his father's building to his coldly charmed life where being a union lawyer instead of a corporate lawyer is an act of rebellion. Every day, that is, until the day the elevator breaks and Sean Mallory practically runs into his arms. Substitute teacher Sean Mallory is everything Zach is not--poor, happy, and goofily charming. With a disarming smile and a penchant for drama, Sean laughs his way into Zach's heart one elevator ride at a time. Zach would love to get to know Sean better, but first he needs the courage to leave his ivory tower and face a relationship that doesn't end at the "Ding!"… (mere)

Some reviewers call this fluffy, or non-angsty, or easy. And it can be! As with any story, what the reader brings to the table affects what they will take from the experience. The cover art made me expect a shorter story, but this is a full-length novel, and for me it read like a realistic, richly done animation, the emotional bursts sharp and vivid in contrast with where it begins, and I wish someone would make it. It's such a delicious slow burn between uncertain men in bits of time caught in a moving metal box, but that is not the whole tale. I very much appreciated that the freeing of our MC was two-fold, and rather gentle given the problems. It's a romance, so of course they end up together, but that's made all the sweeter by delays. And the real stunner? Their sex scenes.

For me, steeped as I am in over 400 romances over the last 2.5 years, including a variety of sex scenes from graphic to sublime, this story's are just exceptional. Unique, perfect for this pair. Delightful. ( )

This story is told in a fairytale type style, or at least it tries to, through the eyes of Zach Driscoll a lawyer.

Zach's a very lonely man. An only child of ambitious parents not all that interested in his life except in that he fits his life into what they want. He's lived his life as they see fit until the day he meets Sean Mallory in an elevator on the way down from his penthouse to the ground floor. His life begins to revolve around these moments.

The author starts Zach out as a very bland character, his voice is bland, his actions and life experience is limited. As he becomes more interested in Sean, Zach becomes slightly more active and he makes more friends.

I think one of the main issues I had about this book is the style of voice used to write it. It's very distant and I couldn't feel or get involved with the characters. I found my mind drifting often for such a short story, which tells me it's not holding my attention.

The blurb had the book sounding cuter and funnier than what it actually is. It's an okay read to spend the time, but I wouldn't read it again. The story reminds me of someone writing a 'What I Did Over My Summer Vacation' paper, only this was condescended from what seemed like a year or two of elevator rides into short snippets. It wasn't exciting or angsty, rather uneventful.

I guess I'm disappointed in that it didn't read as good as I expected it to. Editing however, was good as was the formatting.

It’s like a realistic fairy tale that could absolutely happen and I loved it. It saw heartbreakingly sad and had hilarious moments to balance it out. It’s just .... I don’t often re-read or re-listen to stories but this one might need to be pulled out a few more times :) ( )
