Rashin's illustrations are quirky and colorful, making this a visually appealing book. I'm not particularly fond of the story itself, though, which is inspired by a Rumi tale.

3.5/5 stars. A gorgeously illustrated version of Rumi's tale of a parrot who doesn't want to live in captivity. I stress, the book is gorgeous. The illustrations are bright and energetic and they add a great deal to the story.

I really liked the perspective of this book and its dream like state... this is also reflected in the illustrations. I like that this tale comes from Iran and is not a typical tale that many have heard of. ( )
