Edited by Abbe Smith and Monroe H. Freedman (read 23 Nov 2018) This book was published in 2013 and consists of 15 articles by lawyers who have done public defender work and have written about such work. They all recognize that many folk ask the question which is the title of the book, and all have answered it many times and the articles give good reasons why even the person who has committed a base crime is entitled to the protection of the Bill of Rights which requires that a defendant have a lawyer, and such a lawyer will do the best he can--it would be a travesty if a public defender just went through the motions, as I suspect some do... It is repulsive that anyone should say a defendant should not be defended in court by the best effort a lawyer can exert. . I am proud that I have s son who works very hard as a public defender and I do believe that anyone reading this book will better appreciate the vital work which public defenders do ( ) ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
