This book is about a teenager who traveled on a boat from Ireland to be with their parents in America. It showed great emotions on who they felt about leaving people the loved, their scary experience, and their bravery. It also provided various facts. This book was good and would be something I would put in my library. ( )

I really enjoy reading this book. The words were well written and touched my heart. As I read I thought to myself that it must have been so hard to leave behind everything they knew and the people they loved. How scary that must have been? These people were very brave! The illustrations helped the reader to understand what Annie and her brothers went through. I didn’t realize that Annie Moore was the first immigrant to be processed through Ellis island. This was such a great story of bravery and hope! I would recommend this book for grades 4-6. ( )

15 year old Annie Moore, with her younger brother, came by boat from Ireland to join their parents in America. Good illustrations and text tell the story of their emotional departure from Cobh, County Cork, their long journey across the ocean, and the Russian immigrant who befriended them aboard ship and assured that Annie would be the first one to be processed through Ellis Island. Today a statue of Annie is at both Cobh, Ireland and at Ellis Island, marking the beginning of a new day for all immigrants to America. Amazing book to help teach students about a topic generally not covered in classes. Perfect for grades 4-8 ( )

Annie Moore who only 15 from Ireland migrate to U.S. to find her parents while have to take care of her two younger brothers and she manage to to survive. I like this book because many people who are immigrants can relates to the experience. I will use it for my class to ask who is from different country or their parents from different country can relate to this. It suitable for grade 3rd.

This book is great for children to learn about Ellis island. It is from the view point of a little girl traveling with her family to america. It is a realistic fiction book because the story is not based off of a real person but very well could of happened to someone. ( )
