In the 2020s, when Earth is at war with the Kaijus, giant monsters who have risen from the Pacific Ocean, humanity creates giant robots called Jaegers to combat the Kaijus.
Pretty exciting to begin with, but then it just keeps going. Cartoons just keep punching each other. The special effects seem to get steadily worse through the course of the movie. And they keep cutting away to people yelling out the plot (just in case you couldn't keep up with the whole Giant Monsters Are Badguys thing).
