"The conclusion of the savage, sensual Surrender trilogy in which betrayal, pain, and vengeance threaten to destroy a passion between two damaged souls... Evelyn "Scout" Keats thought she finally found her long-sought happiness in billionaire Lucian Patras. But even though Lucian has always treated her like a queen, she has discovered she is nothing more than a pawn in his own secret game. Worse, her long-time friend and supposed shining knight, Parker Hughes has also used her for his own interests by playing a part in Lucian's game. Everyone's honor is suspect, and no one can be trusted. It is Scout's worst nightmare come to life. As she struggles to comprehend the cost of a broken heart and the value of love, she must choose, once and for all, how much her pride can endure-and how much she is willing to risk to be truly happy"--… (mere)

It takes a very special romance novel to get me interested, and I regret to say that Coming Home by Lydia Michaels didn't succeed. I'm having quite a few mixed feelings over this book, though, regardless of my initial 'meh' moments. There are a few reasons why this may have occurred, and I've decided to point them out, in case someone else might feel I've done the book an injustice in my review:

  • Angsty YA novels are cute. Angsty romance novels ... not so much.

  • I probably wasn't in the mood to read about love (this happens a lot for some reason)

  • Internal dialogues that just won't end!

  • Cliches. Oh, how I despise cliches.

  • I never read the previous books in the trilogy.

Like I said, I do have mixed feelings. There were moments where I said: "Well, it's probable

I'm sure the initial build-up to this finale was less tedious, but for someone who never read the previous books, Coming Home didn't really inspire me to go and get the rest of the books.

Would I advise anyone to get it? Not unless they've read the first two books, no. And even then, I think they'd be better equipped to decide for themselves if this is really one of those must-have books. Personally, I just didn't dig it. I mean, it's no Gone with the Wind or Outlander, but it's also not entirely 50 Shades of Grey either ... In other words: Meh.
