Adam and I are both going through identity crises of epic proportions as we Transition from who we were, and discover who we were meant to be. More Fae are dying, and I feel as if time is running out for us to find all of those responsible and put an end to the killings. The people I thought I could trust have betrayed me and the one person I should absolutely not trust; is taking me deeper and deeper into his world. Ryder's secrets are dangerous and devastating. With each touch and word, he pulls my heart closer to himself and at the same time he is trying to keep me at arm's length. The dance he and I have begun, is getting more complicated as our worlds are being shaken from all sides, and the visions of the future are frightening, and nothing like I had ever pictured for myself or those I care for. This time, destiny is taunting me. I had always thought that I controlled my destiny. Now, my rights are being taken from me by powerful people and leaving me with alternatives that range between bad and awful. This time, the choices I have to make can decide the fate of both worlds. Everything is unraveling, and nothing will ever be the same again. -Synthia… (mere)

A Gripping Second Instalment That Had Me Holding My Breath.

Amelia Hutchins is still a newish author to me but I am so glad to have found her; I am becoming addicted to this series. I love her writing style, the pace she set for her story and the gripping plot with its twists and turns. The characters she has created are complex souls that exhibited all the traits that I crave to keep my interest.

If you've read any of my reviews before, you will know that I enjoy a story more when the female main character is intelligent, resilient, resourceful, self-reliant and has plenty of gumption. Synthia (Syn) ticks all my boxes and also has a great sense of humour and a sarkiness that I love.

I love that this book made me feel so many emotions; yes, I did blubber like a baby at times - but I won't tell you how often or when ;-) - the tension had me holding my breath on the edge of my seat, the fighting got my adrenaline pumping and the sex scenes were so hot and erotic that the tingles were off the chart but there are also beautifully tender moments that just warmed my heart.

I would just like to say that some of the behaviour of the species in this book may cause offense or trigger emotions some readers should avoid. It's always a grey area, romances written about succubi or inccubi type Fae because sex without consent is rape and the overwhelming power of these Fae to make humans do things they mentally might not want to is, in theory by our real life laws, rape. Having said that if you persist, Ms Hutchins gives us insightful glimpses into Ryder's inner dialogue which illuminates the obvious love that he has for Syn.

Taunting Destiny was a bloody good read and I was going to rate it 5 stars until the final couple of chapters. I could see it coming - Cliffhanger Alert! I never give top ratings to books with perilous cliffhangers, and this one ends in an "out of the frying pan..." type situation. I already own the rest of the books in this series despite my passionate hatred of cliffhangers as I am keen to see how many of those mysteries are solved and what will happens next for Syn. ( )

Entralling

Taunting Destiny the second book in Amelia Hutchins Fae chronicles is amazing, didn't think it could get any better but it did, packed with action , intrigue, drama and passion this story just keeps on giving Syn and Ryder as usual are in top form and there seems to be more of an emotional. Connection between them with this installment. This ended on such a cliffhanger so book three here I come. ( )

I am so glad the next book in the series is already out - because there is no way I could wait for the next book after that ending! However, this not being the first time I read this book, I felt myself being more critical this time. I was impatient with the love-hate relationship between Ryder and Syn. And I feel like she is a bit dense when it comes to figuring things out.

That being said - I love everything else about this series. It is causing me to neglect my other obligations.. which is always the sign of a good book. The excuses they keep making for Ryder being a total ass are interesting, and I don't know my position on them yet. He is not human, and we shouldn't expect him to act like one. But does that excuse him from being an amoral prick? I'm not sure. That being said, I LOVE Ryder's beast. I don't know why - but I do. And we got the hint that the brothers have beasts too... so I am crossing my fingers that Amelia Hutchins writes a spinoff series where all the brothers (and Adam) found their fated mates.

Things I loved about this book? Sexytime that was hot, sexy and with all the magic of the fae. We got more Ristan - my favorite secondary character. Mr. Fancy Pants! You turn back into a dog right now! I like when the story switches to Faery. The whole Faery world is fascinating to me, and I like Amelia's take on it. We finally meet the mysterious Horde King - and he is a terrible beauty. Who is he? Well, read and see if you can figure it out! ( )

Hot damn, son! If i thought the first book was good, the second one gave one severe case of whiplash. The story changed so many times in so many ways that by the end of it i was cross-eyed!!!!

It was hot, it was steamy, it was full of what-in-the-fuck???, it was fast paced and kickass!

Hutchins knows her shit, and delivers a storyline that is full of action, in-between parts that are full of sexy and the end result that is just mind-blowing.

There was only one problem....see a few days ago i have only stumbled upon her first novel in the series "Fighting Destiny", it blew me away. I had no clue that the second one was ever released. So today on my day off i trolled GR and just wanted to see when the second one was being released. To my awesome surprise it already was....

So i spent my day off not doing anything i set off to do, but instead i have spent it reading this book.... so what if i don't have any clean thermal socks in the dead of winter and will freeze tomorrow????So fucking worth it!!!!! ( )
