Lindsey is a damaged girl who equates sex with attention, something she has craved all her life - she just gets the wrong sort. Until someone comes into her life who treats her differently she had been acting like the town 'Hussy', however then she meets Zach who sees her like no other man ever has. He is kind and patient and can see the damaged girl inside the defiant armour she has built up around herself, and gradually she allows herself to connect with someone probably for the first time in her life. I too preferred the second half of the book, but although the first half was very harsh and graphic it could be seen as necessary to see just how low Lindsey had fallen before she met Zach. I'm always intrigued when I run across a Selena Kitt novel that I haven't read. She is the QUEEN of taboo. I'm not sure why I was so shocked when I ran across an explicit rape scene in Hussy. Make no mistake, Ms. Kitt isn't endorsing rape. This scene made the distinction between when a woman says no during consensual, kinky sex, and when a woman says, "no, get the fuck away from me." I love Ms. Kitt's work, but this wasn't a favorite of mine. As much as I love her work, Hussy wasn't as in depth as most of her stories. You'd think a book about a girl that has had so many terrible things happen to her would be emotional and deep, but the emotion just doesn't ring true in Hussy. It felt flat and too light for a book about a girl learning to respect herself after a "haunted past". The emotion felt fake to me. Lindsey: At first I didn't really understand this girl. She often often engaged in unprotected sex with strangers, and that kind of icked me out. Not the promiscuity, but not using protection with strange men?! However, I realized there may be more to why she did things like this after learning about that "haunted past". It just goes to show that you should always dig beneath the surface before judging a person. Zachary: This man was was a gentleman from the beginning. He's sweet, he's caring, and he's a hunk. And lucky for Lindsey, he has his eyes set on her, but for some reason, he won't have sex with her. All she knows is sex, so when he lets it slip that he didn't ask her out for a little nookie, she's confused. If I were her, I'd chain him to my bed and never let him leave! This book may not have been my favorite, but it wasn't a waste of time. It was fun in some parts, and chilling in others. I just wish the emotion had flowed easier. I'd recommend this book to those who aren't afraid to pick up a book with a few taboo themes. Read more reviews @ Kitties Like Books Too ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
The Eskimos may have over a hundred words for snow, but that doesn't even come close to how many words the English language has for "slut"-and Lindsey has been called them all. "Hussy" is Lindsey's personal favorite, given to her by her own grandmother, who likes to pat her on the hand and whisper, "Don't worry, dear-a hussy is just a woman with the morals of a man." But Lindsey's not ashamed of her reputation. She knows she's earned it-and she's proud of it. After all, you only live once, right? In fact, she goes out of her way to make it known to every guy she comes in contact with, she's available for the taking-the rougher, the better. That is until Lindsey meets Lieutenant Zachary Davis, a man who refuses to treat her like the trash she believes she really is. But can Lindsey change her impulsive ways and learn to value herself the way the Zach does? Warnings: This title contains graphic language and extreme sexual situations as well as a girl with a slutty attitude bigger than Texas covering a haunted past, and a sweet, hot man in uniform dead set on rescuing her from herself. Note to Readers: This novel was previously released as "Falling Down." No library descriptions found. |
