What happens when you wish for a fairy? The answer - almost anything can happen and most of it will go awry. I really loved reading this book even though I am well past the age to read YA literature. This is a perfect series starter for any young girl, particularly if they believe. Frolickin, fun, and entertaining. ( )

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book. While I am not a YA anymore, this book made me feel it! This was as endearing story and you find yourself believing that there are fairies. I had my stepdaughter read this and give a young persons perspective, but she said basically what I just said. This author has a unique style that pulls the reader in from the first paragraph to the last and even after. I am definitely going to be purchasing the rest of the this series. ( )

I received this from Library Thing to read and review. Even though I am not an adolescent, I really enjoyed and loved this story. Bex is a young girl living with her grandmother and younger sister because her father is in jail and her mother abandoned her and her sister. While her grandmother may not be rich, Bex and her sister live in a warm, loving home. Bex, who attends a school for gifted and talented, also has close loving friends, who interact with her throughout the book. Bex has to life is quite the opposite of hers and her sister because their family has much more money. Disappointed at the party, Bex makes a wish for fairies for herself and her friends. Do wishes come true? Are fairies really what we think they are? This book will show us answers to these questions, though not necessarily the answers the reader might expect. This is a book that will entrance young girls, who are still dreaming about fairies and though at an age where they crossover from girlhood to teenager on their way to womanhood. The author has given the reader and young person a glimpse into the life of an average youngster and her mixed up family, which is very realistic. There are some great takeaways from this wonderfully enchanting story. Though there is not a lot of spare cash in the family, Bex realizes and acknowledges that their home is loving and special and that the best things in life do not always come via a good cash outlay. Friends can be trying at times, but, if true friends, they can also be loving and supportive for you. When you wish for something, regardless how big or small it is, things may not always turn out the way you would expect them to. These are great messages to send, and the author has done it quite well. I think everyone who ever has believed in fairies or who still might as well as anyone enjoying a good story will enjoy this fantastic book. ( )

Rebecca, or Bex as she prefers to be called and her sister Reagan live with their grandmother. Their father is in jail and their mother is just gone. Bex is different and is judged unfairly. Being a fan of fairies that is the wish she makes when she blows out the candles on her birthday cake . . . a fairy for herself and fairies for her 3 best friends. When her wish is granted she gets a lot more than she bargained for.
This would a perfect “chapter book” for girls. The book is funny but it also carries a message. It's okay to be different and it is never okay to be a bully at any age. I highly recommend this book and plan to purchase copies for my nieces. I am glad to see that this is the first book in a series.
I received a copy of the book for free in exchange for this honest review. ( )
