I don't really know how to rate this. It wasn't what I was expecting. It's not a story. It's a teaching aid. It's an exercise to learn how to pronounce letters and form words. It serves a purpose and perhaps very well. ( )

“I’m a Firefighter,” tells the story of a child that is pretending to be a firefighter. It is a great picture book that shows how this young man uses his imagination to describe the events a firefighter goes through while in route to a fire and how the firefighter put out the fire when he arrives on the scene. It has a funny ending but you will have to read it to find out.

The reason I like this book is that during my childhood I wanted to be a firefighter. I also like this book because it tells the children that there is another way of pretending besides playing a video game and that is to use their imagination.

For the classroom, this picture book has flash cards so that the student can talk about how the words are pronounced and then I would have the students match the words on the flashcards with the words in the story. This will help the students recognize sight words.
