Though artists of the day recorded the splendor of royal and wealthy patrons, few could afford to devote themselves to as vast a record of the common man. Not much in the way of explanatory or background text, but a great number of interesting and evocative photographs of Europe from approximately 1864 to 1914; there's pretty decent dispersion of countries, as well. Not a deep book, but a fun one. ( )
