The first story was about a young boy who is bedridden and how a young lady helps him start a "Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor" in his home and makes him feel a part of something that has meaning to his dreary invalid life. The second story was quite different from any I have read. It was "A Chautauqua Idyl" and it was how nature (the trees, wind, rivers, birds, fish, flowers, etc.) all came together and sought to start a "conference" like they had seen humans do at Chautauqua. It really was quite nice to read the conversations the wind would have with the birds, or the trees had with the river. They tried to figure out what alot of words meant that the humans used and it was enjoyable to read. The third story was "A Little Servant" and it was a precious story of how a little girl comes to make the gardener, who feels as if he has no purpose in life, come to see his importance in the life of this little girl. She makes him feel important and helps him find a purpose and reason for living. Although it has a somewhat sad ending, it was a precious story between a little girl who made a big different in the life of one man. ( ) ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

The Parkerstown Delegate: Lois was coming home! In tiny Parkerstown, more than one heart was gladdened by the news. Her proud father, of course, thought three months was a long time for her to be away. Frail, thirteen-year-old Harley Winters, who waited by his window just to see her train pass by, eagerly anticipated the fun her visits would bring into his dreary invalid life. Even Franklin Winters had to admit that the world seemed a much more glorious place with Lois nearby. But no one, perhaps not even Lois herself, was prepared for the power of the new spirit she was bringing with her to humble Parkerstown. And no one would have guessed that poor little Harley would be the inspiring leader of an amazing group of people!A Chautauqua Idyl: A delightful allegory of a Chautauqua gathering held by nature in the form of talking flowers, trees, animals, wind, brook, etc. It was written by the author in 1887 to earn enough money for a family trip from her Florida home to the summer Chautauqua gathering at Chautauqua, New York. It was published in time to be offered for sale that summer and brought enough earnings to take the family there.A Little Servant: A short story of a little girl who is a servant and how she won the heart of an unbelieving gardener.
