An Amazingly Emotive Start To This Gripping Paranormal Romance.

Amelia Hutchins is a new-to-me author and I was blown away by this book. I loved her writing style, the pace she set for her story and the gripping plot. The characters she created were complex souls that exhibited all the traits that I crave to keep my interest. I love that this book made me feel so many emotions; yes, I did blubber like a baby at times but I won't tell you how often or when. ;-)

If you've read any of my reviews before, you will know that I enjoy a story more when the female main character is intelligent, resilient, resourceful, self-reliant and has plenty of gumption. Synthia (Syn) ticks all my boxes with a great sense of humour and sarkiness that I love.

I would just like to say that some of the actions of the species in this book may cause offense or trigger emotions some readers should avoid. It's always a grey area, romances written about succubi or inccubi type Fae because sex without consent is rape and the overwhelming power of these Fae to make humans do things they mentally might not want to is, in theory by our real life laws, rape. Having said that if you persist, Ms Hutchins gives us the odd insightful glimpse into Ryder's inner dialogue which gradually warmed my heart towards him.

Fighting Destiny was a bloody good book and I was going to rate it 5 stars until the final couple of pages. Cliffhanger Alert! I never give top ratings to books with perilous cliffhangers, this book could have happily ended before the final few scenes as there are enough questions and mysteries left unanswered to tempt me to keep reading. I will probably still buy and download book 2 Taunting Destiny despite my passionate hatred of cliffhangers as I am keen to see how many of those mysteries are solved and what will happens next for Syn and Adam.

A real edge of your seat, never a dull moment, complete mystery, super hot category 100 (fanning myself here ) captivating story. syn is a sassy takes no bull kick butt heroine and Ryder well he's just so lickable and bad ass, there's a lot going on in this book I can assure you you will struggle to put it down and even through the chemistry is off the hook there's also a seriousness to this and some heartbreaking anguish that will gut you , I am so looking forward to reading book two . I don't know... there was to much build up or catch and release... I was confused as heck in parts. Like all of a sudden there was an explosion, like a literal explosion or an emotional explosion? Some parts were drug through the mud to the point of boredom and other parts were tossed in quickly just to come to a quick end? Now that, that is resolved... wait it was what happened?
And don't even get me started in Ryder. He was one big fucking contradiction from the start! BDSM dominant, then sweet "I want to pick the pieces up and put them together" - the sweet and evil side were two total opposites that I didn't like it.
The whole hunting game scene? What the fuck? It all started and ended within two pages! I want to read on but Syn bugs me, oh that's it I am done, that was the last straw blah blah stfu we all know how this will end. Prolonging the inevitable doesn't make me like it more. It just makes me mad. ( )
