Middle school. This book is about a 12-year-old genius girl who learns how to push through and find a new sort of family after her parents die in a car crash. This book could be great for students who feel odd or different, and can also teach students about dealing with grief. I really enjoyed this book, the characters were really interesting.

This is a great book for ages 9-11. It is about a young girl named Willow who goes through life with a disability. This is a great book for children who are struggling with accepting themselves because Willow feels very proud of who she is. In this book she also goes through the death of her parents and finding herself again. Overall this book does a really great job showing how to work through a lot of different life situations. ( )

Counting by 7's is an incredible book that talks about a girl with mental disabilities who is going through a lot in her life with the death of her parents to jumping around foster homes. She is challenged by people to do better and this book really showcases that. I see it being good for middle school aged students ( )

I absolutely loved this book. It had wonderful representation and inclusion with race and background but that was not what the story was about. It was about life and grief and different people coming together and leaning on each other and forming a family. I would love to have my class read this book together. ( )

This book is an interesting narrative that also incorporates themes of mathematics in the story. Willow Chance is a 12 year old girl who has an interest in medicine and gardening. She experiences a tragic event that alters her life. I will not spoil it in this review, but her story is definitely worth reading! I highly recommend this book either for yourself or for a classroom. The title of this book lets you know the importance of the number 7, where the main characters speak about different facts regarding this number (multiplication for example). This book is a great fit for a middle school classroom and focuses on at least two content areas. I felt this book was very well-written so I gave it a 5 out of 5 star rating. ( )
