The collapse of the regime of king Blain of Galdur led to the appearance of a crisis that became a peak of the illiteracy, dishonesty, and the number of awkward policies of ruling ministers. Fortunately, the older brother of Blain, king Cedric of Medias appeared to be an outstanding and incredibly talented magician, possessing the greatest creative genius and exceptional mind. He offered help to his brother and opened fifty new schools that qualitatively differed from common ones in methods of teaching utilized there. King Blain was appointed a chairman of IDT School and given a promise to get his kingdom back after seven years. However, four students of a school would have to apply the maximum of their intelligence and brightness to solve the magical riddles of Cedric, which were the combination of sorcery, black magic and witchcraft. Thereof, solving these riddles was an extremely difficult and challenging task that put students under serious threat, in which every single mistake could cost a life. Consequently, the Magical Riddles presents an exciting picture of adventures, mystery, action and intelligence.… (mere)

Like the children in the Mysterious Benedict society, these four genius teens (two boys and two girls) will save their world with intelligence and charm in Raju Vashishta’s first Magical Riddles book. The story’s fun, with a simple set-up that blends fairy-tale castles and kings with touches of modern political idealogy and business. The characters each have their own backstories—parents’ jobs, siblings’ rivalries, and more. And the riddles are nicely intriguing.

Some editing or translation glitches could be easily resolved—a familiar riddle struggles under the use of “shortened” instead of “shorter”; children go out rather than through a door before knowing that it leads outside; and so on. But the ideas are clear and interesting enough to keep children trying to out-guess the protagonists.

Simple text reminds me of childhood radio stories, but the touch of (innocent) romantic interest is a little older and distinctly more modern. Education, cooperation, and care for others become important factors both in the problem and its solution. And a nice touch of magical chance reminds readers that not everything depends on intelligence. A fun kids' novel that could lead to an interesting series.

Disclosure: I was given a free ecopy and promised to give my honest review. ( )

Raju Vashishta has written a fantastic children's novel that held my attention from page one all the way to the end. It's an delightful tale full of mystery and adventure that takes place in the magic land of Magija. Four intelligent and talented students have been chosen to solve the mystery of the Shaking Palace. They must restore the King Blain to his throne by completing a series of treacherous tasks and perplexing riddles.

Raju takes you through a journey that is full of suspense, adventure and action which draws the reader in and keeps them tied in until the very last page. With every chapter you read, you get that much closer to solving the mystery of Shaking Palace. I was on the edge of my seat just waiting for what exciting adventure was going to happen next. This book is full of intrigue and un-expecting events that keep you guessing along with the characters.

This is a perfect book for young readers, especially pre-teens, who have a love for magic, fantasy, and adventure. As an adult, I found this to be an exciting read as well and wouldn't be surprised if other adults felt the same. It would be a great book for a parent and child to read together to have books in common that could be discussed over the dining room table.

There aren't very many pages so it can be an easy weekend read for you and your teenager. With short chapters, it's also great for mandatory reading for school and/or reading to a young child. You could easily start and finish a chapter while reading before bed time.
I found it to be extremely fun to read, because you'll want to solve the riddles as you read along with the characters. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to parents, young adults, grade school students, and possibly even some adults. Overall I rate this book a 5/5! What a fun read! ( )
