So when Eagle Elite University announces its annual scholarship lottery, Tracey jumps at the opportunity to secure their future and enters. She isn't expecting much - but then she wins and life as she knows it will never be the same . . . There's Nixon, gorgeous, irresistible, and leader of a group that everyone fears: The Elect. Their rules are simple: 1. Do not touch The Elect 2. Do not look at The Elect 3. I have read a lot from this author, usually something funny or paranormal. For some reason, I hadn't started this series even though it had been on my TBR for what seems like forever. I can now see that I was remiss in that as it is fraught with suspense and secrets.

Even though it tends to read as young adult without the steam factor, I can see that the potential is there to turn into something more. I figured every book would be different characters but I can see that, at least in this case, that Nix and Trace's story has more to go. Interesting side characters and a great foundation for the future. My only hope is that it will feel more "adult" or mature as the series progresses because at times the juvenile reactions and dialogue were exasperating. ( )

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't perfect either. This is the second series I've read with a mob type theme. It was good and I do want to read the next in the series. ( )

Meh... I usually love Rachel's work, her matchmaker series is one of my favorites. I don't know if it's because this is more serious then the others of hers I've read or if because it's older... the plot was just screwy. I feel like like there were a lot of things that didn't make sense or she took a lot of short cuts like 'oh I don't remember my life before, oh wait now I do' just lame lazy writing traps.

I mean if you like Van Dyken give it a try but in my opinion it's no where near as good as her other works I've read ( )

Different. I am not sure exactly what I expected, but this book was different-in a good way. I was surprised, irritated, and totally engaged the whole time. Finished it in an afternoon and then jumped right in to the second book! ( )

Ok, so I have read the book before and gave the book 5 stars.
This rating is for the audio book. My big issue was that the girl narrator tried to do all these different male voices, and it did not work for me. It just didn't work. I found myself cringing. Its not that I mind the narrator doing the voice of other genders but this narrator just wasn't cutting it for me. But, I love the book so much I was willing to move past it. And, the next book in the series is narrated by a guy, so I think I will enjoy that more! ( )
