To get out of marrying a man she didn't love, Karyn Ensinger moves from Germany to Nebraska. There she will find herself marrying Mikal Ritter, as she is more or less a mail-order bride. It is the 1880's on the prairie's of Nebraska, and living in a sod house is a lot different from the home Karyn left behind. The two will settle on a marriage in name only for a time, but as time goes by they both will wish for more, but neither one of them know how to show each other their true feelings for one another. But their devotion to their Lord will eventually help bring them together. It was a tender love story, but also filled with a lot of hardships and dangers. There is nothing like a good neighbor though to "help things along".

I thoroughly enjoyed myself watching these two people realize what a good match they really were. This could easily be read as a stand alone, although book one in this series was so good, I highly recommend you start with that, "Sarah's Patchwork". I especially liked how the author began her story in the present, and then through circumstances in the present, revealed how things happened in the past. Good job. ( )
