This review can also be found on my blog acascadeofbooks.blogspot.com I really enjoyed this novel, hence the 5/5 stars rating. This novel is a mix of some of my favourite genres; Young Adult, Dystopian and Sci-fi. This novel had just the right percentage of action in it to keep me interested and also enough information about the world and the characters to make sure you understood everything that was happening. The plot was really gripping the whole way through this novel, I flew through it in about 2 days! The plot contains many twists, some of which were predictable, but some which I really didn't see coming, and they were nicely written by the author. The characters in the novel were a really strong part of the novel, they had depth, they were complex and seemed real. Terra was a great main character, a strong female character, something that is uncommon in YA novels. She was brave, intelligent and cared deeply for her younger brother. Adam was the other main character in the novel and he was a good character too. I like the twist that was revealed about Adam, it added an interesting twist to the novel. The relationship between these two characters was good, it seemed realistic. Terra found him attractive in the beginning, but there was no insta-love, which was a relief. The writing style of the author is good. The writing flows nicely, and reads smoothly. The author's use of description was great, I could imagine the world Terra lives in, and the contrast between that and the floating cities where the sky dwellers live. I really enjoyed the ending of the novel, even though it ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, it also comes to natural ending, giving a sense of closure too. The last couple of chapters allow the reader to discover more about the world and the political situation in the country, and the imminent danger! I would like to thank CBL Tourhosts for hosting this blog tour, and for providing me with an ebook copy of the novel. I really enjoyed this novel, hence the 5/5 stars rating. In the distant wake of a plague that has decimated the Earth’s population, humanity is split in two. The rich and powerful live in skycities that float overhead, while those who remain on the ground have gathered in settlements strewn across a dying planet. Eighteen-year-old Terra Rhodon makes her living as a scav, scouring the earth for discarded scraps and metals to recycle for profit. While on a routine scavenging run, she discovers something that shocks her home settlement of Genesis X-16. Terra suddenly finds herself asking questions no one will answer. Fueled by curiosity, her search for the truth ultimately leads her to Adam — a beguiling boy with a secret that has the power to change humanity’s existence forever. No library descriptions found. |

**Update January 30th**
So, the giveaway for this book closes in about 7 hours. As much as I still want to win and have a real copy that I can hold in my hands and smell the pages and fondle the book (because, yes, I am one of those people) it's cool if I don't win as well, because the author (thank you, Gretchen Powell) sent me a free copy on my nook!
So, whatever happens, win or lose, I WILL end up reading this book.
YAY!
**Update January 31st**
Okay, so I didn't win it. No real copy for me to fondle. I suppose I could fondle my nook as I read it though...
I Will read AND review this book as soon as I'm finished with everything by Tamora Pierce (except Beka Cooper, cuz I don't like Beka Cooper)
So, about a month from now.
After Reading
The aliens in this story are strangely reminiscent of the aliens from I Am Number Four.
Let me take a moment and laugh at the main characters name: Terra Eryth Rhodon. Okay, so , comepletely ignoring that her FIRST name MEANS Earth, her middle name was obviously just the authors attempt to have her middle be Earth without it actually being Earth. Ha-ha.
I actually really enjoyed this book, and the conspiracy of it all. And I can’t wait for book two.
