Some of the plot devices were tiresome but I enjoyed the ideas the book tackles and the descriptions of historical sites and events. ( ![]() 4.5 if I could. The book kept me engaged and I enjoyed the story. MUCH better than the lost symbol. I was left wanting more at the end....although I did like how it ended up and I thought the idea was interesting and scary!! In true Dan Brown fashion, this book does the chase-lecture approach we have seen in others. This time, the focal point is on the concept of the Earth's overpopulation, with a threat cloaked in a Dantean puzzle, giving us lots of factoids about Dante's time and his book, the Divine Comedy. So, if you are interested in that aspect, this may be worth reading. 3 stars because the twists at the end genuinely surprised me. I also enjoy the descriptions of historical art and architecture. But overall, meh. I really enjoyed this book. After coming off of the song of ice and fire series, this shorter faster paced book was much welcome. The familiar Robert Langdon leads you on a Roller coaster ride across Europe and some pretty interesting things occur. I really enjoyed the theme behind the book and I really think it is up there with da Vinci code and angels and demons.

"To the great relief of anyone who enjoys him, Mr. Brown winds up not only laying a breadcrumb trail of clues about Dante (this is “Inferno,” after all) but also playing games with time, gender, identity, famous tourist attractions and futuristic medicine." Renowned author Dan Brown hated the critics. Ever since he had become one of the world’s top renowned authors they had made fun of him. [...] The critics said his writing was clumsy, ungrammatical, repetitive and repetitive. They said it was full of unnecessary tautology. They said his prose was mired in a sea of mixed metaphors.
