I wanted to give it a 4 star cause of all the "joining the dots" moments but I feel the Obito angle came very very late than it was first introduced. I was expecting it to pack a punch of emotions and to ride high on it , but it was very subtle ; I felt teary eyed at only one moment. I hate how all happy , naive kids are sketched after Naruto. That is such lack of imagination from the writer's end. I hate the uniformity , so a 3 star cause it was not bad. ( )

In this ongoing Great Ninja War, it's hard to remember that those involved are human beings, with lives and aspirations and personal histories. This is especially true when said people are the antagonists of the story. This volume explores the past of the man we know as Tobi and his true self, as well as why he's fighting the way he is.

Even though the main battle doesn't progress very much in this book, the sheer amount of Tobi-based flashbacks and plot twists make it one of the most essential reads in the series.

Obito's real story kicks ass. Gotta know the motivations of your badass villains to truly sympathize and feel the glory of their eventual defeat. Very memorable volume. ( )
