I have read two books in this series so far and I really enjoyed them so much. The story focuses on three kids who have to go back in time to make things right. In this book, The Trap Door, the kids are sent back to the time of the Underground Railroad in the Southern United States. At first, I was thrown off when they said that the Underground Railroad didn't work and they had to go back and make it work. The Underground Railroad was a success because of the dedication of men and women who risked their lives to save others. In this book, they show the many people that made this underground railroad work. They talk about famous names and places and actually teach history in a very fun, real, and exciting way. If I was a kid, I would love to learn history this way. It makes it seem so much more exciting than a Social Studies book. When we are immersed in a story with characters (kids) that we can relate to, it makes history seem more real. The Infinity Ring sends them back to multiple different time periods and countries throughout the series. It is a fun book series for kids and adults. I would love to have this in my classroom for kids to read and get excited about Social Studies and History.

Infinity Ring: The Trap Door is the 3rd book in the Infinity Ring series. Sera, Riq, and Dak travel to the year 1850. During this time, the Underground Railroad was about to be exposed. As Sera, Riq, and Dak try to find a way to fix it, Riq runs into his ancestor, Kessiah(a.k.a Kissy). Kessiah is separated from her husband and sold as a slave. Riq decides to try and help her escape. However, this starts to cause problems.

Infinity Ring: The Trap Door is a very good book with interesting plot development. While all characters are involved, this one is mostly Riq and his family. In this book, you discover Riq's complicated family tree. His ancestor Kessiah and her two sons are sold as slaves, while her husband tries to free her. It's interesting seeing Riq focused on his family, rather than his mission. This shows a side to Riq we've barely seen, while Dak and Sera tend to stay the same. Throughout the book, Riq also faces discrimination and is even auctioned as a slave. This gives the team a new look of the past. ( )
