Tiny, clever pull-tabs are scattered throughout the pages of this book, including the title page; there is also a book-within-a-book ("Goldilocks The Play"). It is in the same spirit as Fairy Tales for Mr. Barker, in that it's necessary to be familiar with the stories already. A good choice for later preschool or K-2 ages. ( ) The Goldilocks Variations: A Pop-up Book is an exceptionally charming book that makes me wish my children were still little so I could have the pleasure of reading it to them over and over again. I will just have to settle for re-reading it to myself, although I suspect that my sons will enjoy it, too, even at the advanced ages of 11 and 14. Allan Ahlberg has the uncommon ability to write stories which amuse both children and adults without resorting to "adult" humor. The Goldilocks Variations includes encounters with many different bears, aliens (Ahlberg thoughtfully includes a dictionary of their language;)a pantomime, a book within a book, and enough buns for all. Physically, the book is a pleasure too, with Jessica Ahlberg's delicate watercolors printed on heavy, creamy matte paper pages, and a variety of pop-ups which are perfect for the story, and are sturdy enough to survive repeated manipulation by less gentle fingers. Buy a copy for your children, buy a copy for you grandchildren, and buy a copy for yourself so you can enjoy it, too. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
